The 5th Annual Food Quality and Safety Congress

The 5th Annual Food Quality and Safety Congress was held on August 9-10, 2018 in Dwarka, New Delhi. The event brings together regulators, F&B manufacturers, and analytical and testing services providers from around India to discuss best practices in aligning food quality and safety systems, and to address the quality and instrumentation changes suggested by FSSAI.

Vikram Kelkar, Joint Managing Director for Hexagon Nutrition, was a featured panel moderator and discussed “Fortification of Foods” with some of the most authoritative voices in the country. The discussion pushed for higher quality standards and new technologies to assess the industry as a whole. There were lot of interesting questions from the audience.

Arun Lal, our VP of Domestic Sales and Marketing, also gave a keynote address on the topic of the background of Micronutrient Premixes and its applications in the food industry.

Hexagon Nutrition was the Fortification Partner for the event. We continue to stand alongside the government in its efforts to push forward with mandatory fortification of staple foods as the most effective way to deal with nutritional deficiencies for certain parts of the Indian population. Fortification should be a core component of the attach on malnutrition and hidden hunger.

In addition to testing and fortification, the Congress also discussed the adoption of food safety and quality assurance mechanisms associated with Total Quality Management (TQM) including ISO 9000, ISO 22000, Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and Good Hygienic Practices (GHP).
